At the beginning of the 2010 I walked across France with a mate of mine called Matty. Not only was this an amazing experience, but it was Number 36 on my list.
Whilst chatting somewhere in between Switzerland on the French East Coast and the Atlantic Ocean on the West, Matty told me a story of his military training and how one of the hardest exercises he ever had to complete was a 72 Hour Sleep Deprivation task. He mentioned how tough physically it was, but more so how challenging mentally it became. Hallucinations, mind games, and constant activities were some of the themes Matty spoke about and by the end of the conversation I had decided that I needed to test myself with this very challenge; staying awake for 72 Hours.
In November, 2010, I was joined by good mate and professional adventurer; Dave Cornthwaite, in Melbourne as we decided to attempt this challenge. Little did we know what we were in for and even with a an amazing pre-arranged itinerary of events that would last us 72 hours, things became quite emotional.
